Stand in Your Power! (Because He Lives 🙌)
Today is an exciting day in the life of every believer. It is the day Jesus rose from the dead with victory over sin and death in His hands.
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? ” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
-1 Corinthians 15:55-57 – NLT
Yes, this is an exciting day. But do you understand the power of what happened next? The power of His ascension?
I must confess that while grew up in the church, during my childhood and most of my adult life, I overlooked the significance of Christ’s work after the Resurrection—what we call the Ascension.
What is the Ascension and Why Does It Matter?
My friend, The Ascension describes the moment in which Jesus Christ was raised to the throne of authority at the right hand of God. The ascension story is told in the first chapter of Acts, following the Gospels.
Acts 1:9 recounts “He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight,” and verse 11 adds, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” While Jesus’ death and resurrection sealed our salvation, the power to live an abundant life NOW would be incomplete without the Ascension. And a praise break goes right there!
Because He Ascended…
We Have a New Position
Christ’s humiliation paid the price for our sins. He purchased our status as justified heirs, sons, and daughters of the king. We are no longer condemned nor are we captive to The Enemy’s bondage of guilt and shame. We are now seated with Him by faith.
“In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”
~Ephesians 1:7
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…”
~Ephesians 2:6
We Have Purpose
When Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not expect the disciples to disband and go about their merry way. He expected them to carry on the work in an even greater magnitude. Jesus’ intention was not to leave behind a weak, cowering, unproductive body of believers but a strong, victorious, and flourishing one.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works because I am going to be with the Father. “
~John 14:12 NLT
“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”
~Luke 10:19 NLT
We Have Power
When Jesus was raised from the dead and ascended unto His throne, He poured His Spirit out to the church and gave gifts of overwhelming victory to us. We can do anything He calls us to do – personally and professionally; in Him, we have unlimited power.
“Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And He bestowed gifts on men.”
~Ephesians 4:8 AMP
“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.”
~Philippians 4:13 AMP
I Know What You Are Thinking….
Well, if it’s true that I am seated at the right hand of Christ, I am destined to live a victorious life, and that I have the power to do anything I need to do…
