Holy Week Devotional Contest: Ebony Hudson

REPOSITIONED TO BE RESURRECTED

When we think about Holy Week, we remember how it began and how it ended. In Luke 19:28-38, we are told of His triumphal entry to Jerusalem, in which people were singing praises and laying palms in His path. In Luke 23: 33-38, we are told of His death on the cross. In Luke 24: 1-12 we are told of His resurrection. Our savior was repositioned from a position of being praised, to a position of being crucified, to finally the position of being resurrected, and now sits on the right hand of God. His repositioning was part of the divine plan to bring salvation and eternal life.

Let us use this Holy week to not only praise God for His resurrecting power, but to reflect on our savior repositioning us to be resurrected; resurrected in our minds, in our hearts, in our Godly communications, in our focus, in our role within the kingdom of God. Let our joy, our peace, our compassion, and our love one for another be resurrected. During this Holy Week, let us walk out the word of God spoken by Paul in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now life in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.’’

This week, Lord, help us to remember that you are the author of our life story, and that no matter what changes happen this week, this month, or this year, there is a resurrection story with our name on it. Just as you were not only physically repositioned, but also mentally and emotionally repositioned from Palm Sunday to your crying out to your father while enduring the cross, guide us through any physical and mental/emotional repositioning that we must endure for your will to be done in our lives. This life that we live in the flesh we live by faith in the Son of God, who gave himself for us. You endured the cross, torture, suffering, and death to be resurrected with ALL power.

Today, Lord, I pray that you would reposition our thoughts, our struggles, our fears, and our focus. Today and for the rest of the year, we praise you for the reposition and the resurrection. As we praise you for being the savior who was adored by people on His way to Jerusalem, we remind ourselves that we are part of a community, part of a kingdom of believers, and it is in this kingdom that we find strength and increase our faith. As we praise you for being the savior who died on the cross for our sins, we remind ourselves that we are redeemed by the blood of the lamb. We remember the power of the blood from the time we awake in the morning until we go to sleep at night. As we praise you for rising from the grave, we are reminded that you are lifting us out of where we are to where you have called us to be. You are lifting our minds past only earthly things to heavenly things; lifting us over mistakes and sins from our past; and eventually lifting us to join you in heavenly places.

Let the spirit of Holy Week dwell in us all year long. Today, we pray that you reveal yourself like never before, reposition our ears to better hear, our eyes to better see, and our spirit to better receive what saith the Lord. We seek to be Holy as you are Holy, so we praise you for the repositions in our minds, our jobs, our families, our churches, and our communities that are leading us to divine resurrection.
